truth that angers
Now this is a disturbing if not obvious fact. To say there's nothing wrong with the US education system is an understatement. And you all have to live there when they're all grown up. Does anyone here think that maybe, just maybe, over 300 billion dollars being spent in Iraq could ahve helped the sorely lacking US education system. Seriously, is it not pure folly? When the US says it's trying to help destitute Iraqis, yet has no money for their own kids at home, something's wrong. Personally, I don't think it will be fixable. The threshold has been crossed long ago, in my opinion. What actions could fix this situation, to make young American kids a bit more educated, or at least able to learn?

I have a better idea, lets not support 1/2 the world, let em starve, lets stop all aid to needy countries, I am sure france and canada will pick up the check, that will solve many of americas problems, stop being so damn generous with people that could care less. how's that for an idea?

You know modman, there's a good time for flaming and anger, and there's a time for serious discussion. You have obviously reduced yourself to the mindless flaming. So be it. But you're on the wrong path my friend, and you can either get busy living, or get busy fucking off. Your choice. The fuck off lane is more travelled, but it's also the least enlightened. Choose your path wisely. So, about the state of education....

We do spend billions of dollars on education in this country. There are millions of kids who take advantage of it every day and do very well. On the other hand, in Milwaukee (for example) the truancy rate is 70%, the combined high school graduation rate for MPS is 36%. MPS's budget is over $9,500 per per student. When asked what needs to be done to improve student academic achievement, the mindless response from the administration is... "We need more money".

I would much rather see money going to Iraq to secure their freedom and improve their lives than see millions spent on a school system that thinks more money is what they need. How about an administration that does more than sit on their fat butts whining about everything except their own incompetence.

My initail comment was not made in anger, but for real, since the vast majority of the worlds population uses americas kind heart, we should withhold aid till the world sees what it is like when america does NOT rush to their aid.

This isn't the best article to base a rant about American schools on, is it?

It's a nice figure to pull out of your butt, that money we've spent on the war in Iraq. Did you forget that school funding is a STATE responsibility? It is the STATE's responsibility to educate. Not the Federal Government's.

If you want to bitch about school funding, be my guest. At least in Ohio, funding is atrocious. Of course, I could probably debate a day and a half about that, but it still does no good does it? Property tax is the worst tax to base school funding on, IMHO. Oh well.

All in all, not a very informed decision to make this blog. At least with the information you've got.

Peace,

Beebes
